Does Cryotherapy Work for Acne Treatment & Psoriasis or Dermatitis?
It is suggested that cryotherapy can treat the symptoms of psoriasis, dermatitis and acne treatment by helping the body improve its immune system which can provide relief from the inflammation and irritation of those two skin conditions. Although there are no definite scientific studies available I have found many websites that give favorable reviews to suggest that cryotherapy can be used to fight these infections to improve symptoms.
This article contains before and after picture that suggest cryotherapy can help psoriasis.
It shows how whole body cryotherapy can work to help treat the symptoms of psoriasis.
Does Cryotherapy Boost Lymph Draining and Blood Circulation?
Boosts Lymph Draining and Blood Circulation
We haven’t found direct evidence of this although here is what one man said.
Kenny Boyd, head football athletic trainer at the University of Texas says, “One of the reported effects is that afterward you get an increase of blood flow, which helps the lymphatic drainage system kind of clean out lactic acid.”
This doesn’t prove that cryotherapy does boost lymph draining and increase blood circulation but if the head football trainer at the University of Texas is using it, there must be some benefits, wouldn’t you think?
Regarding increasing blood circulation, there is evidence on many websites that suggest that cryotherapy improves blood circulation. It does this because when the body is exposed to extreme cold temperatures the blood flow is reduced to the extremities and is sent to the vital organs including the brain. This serves to protect these vital organs as well as reduce the loss of heat in the body. Once the temperature is normalized, the blood flows back to the extremities and this serves to increase the blood circulation. Because an increase in blood circulation also increases the oxygen and nutrients to your brain and other areas of your body you feel healthier and happier too.
Activates Natural Biological Regeneration
Can Cryotherapy Activate Natural Biological Regeneration?
There are many websites that suggest cryotherapy can activate natural biological regeneration but none of them have explained satisfactorily how it does that. Suffice it to say I do believe it can activate natural biological regeneration but it’s not based on any scientific research studies or conclusions. Rather is my opinion that cryotherapy can do this because as the blood circulation improves within your body, your overall health improves and your natural healing force is activated. This healing force Will aid in biological regeneration. This is only my opinion but it makes sense to me. I hope someday that scientific research can prove this theory.
How Cryotherapy Helps to Reduce Pain
In my research I found a YouTube video where Dr. Oz demonstrates whole body cryotherapy using a cryogenic chamber. He explains that as the body cools down inflammation decreases. He says that it helps people who have debilitating pain and inflammation and shows us why. In the video he explains that when a person has pain, the blood vessels around the painful area begin to swell. And as the blood vessels swell they release chemicals and the tissue next to them become influenced by the white blood cells. Then the white blood release chemicals that cause inflammation and irritation. By cooling the area the blood vessels shrink which makes it harder for the white blood cells to escape which results in less aches and pains to your injured area.
I’ll include the video of Dr. Oz explaining this process because he says it better than I can.
Here is Dr. Oz explaining how cryotherapy works to reduce pain.
